Canton Police Department to Hold Coin Drop to Benefit Special Olympics in in Canton, May 3rd
Canton Police Department officers will conduct a coin drop fundraiser to benefit Special Olympics Connecticut athletes on Saturday May 3rd, at the intersection of Albany Tpke & The Shops at Farmington Valley (110 Albany Tpke)– from 10 AM – 2 PM. During the event they'll be at the intersection to collect coins and cash to support Special Olympics' year-round sports, health, and fitness programs for athletes of all abilities.
About the Law Enforcement Torch Run® for Special Olympics Connecticut
The Law Enforcement Torch Run® for Special Olympics Connecticut is a year-round program and one of the movement's largest grass-roots fundraiser and public awareness vehicles. Officers organize and host fundraisers that include but are not limited to Tip-a-Cop, Cop-on-Top and Penguin Plunge events, all to benefit local Special Olympics athletes.
A highlight of the program is the annual three-day Torch Run which takes place every June. During the Torch Run, officers from police departments and law enforcement agencies across the state run and carry the Special Olympics "Flame of Hope" more than 500 miles through their towns and cities to the site of the Special Olympics Connecticut Summer Games.
